China's city of Shenzhen is seeking to implement new laws to promote "Good Samaritans". The aim is to try and reduce anxiety in those who'd like to do others a good turn--but have in China often feared being sued for their trouble.
That was the widely-accepted explanation for a recent controversy, which also took place in Shenzhen. A toddler was hit by multiple vehicles while over a dozen onlookers failed to come to her assistance.
Video of the incident spread across the Chinese web, causing a great deal of soul-searching--and now playing a big part in Shenzhen's new laws to reduce liability risks for aspiring Samaritans.
