Art Showcase: Angry Guru Sculpture - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. This piece is called Angry Guru and he was inspired by this piece of driftwood that I found. Some of my sculpture is inspired by a particular piece and then, I build the sculpture around that piece and he is an example of that. So, he became Angry Guru just because, again, of the humanness of how everyone, even our greatest guru, can lose it sometimes, and have an attitude. So, again, just trying to get people connected to their own humanness and feel like it is OK to be human. This piece of the body here is part of an old capital and his legs are also part of a piece of furniture like, a control freak part of an old chair. This is a dolls foot and I have no idea what these are but I thought they were cool feet. He is actually mounted on this piece of wood so he can be hung on the wall. I have a lot of sculptures like this so that people can buy sculpture and actually hang it on the wall rather than put it on a pedestal in their living room because nobody I know has that kind of space and I would love people to own my work who are just regular people, not just people who have, ya know, 14,000 square foot homes. I had like them to own it too though. That had be cool.
