Chinese Communist Party authorities have announced that three individuals are to be executed, following convictions for arson. The men, along with two others not facing death sentences, were convicted of setting fire to a hotel in the northeast province of Jilin.
Eleven people died in the blaze, which according to the Communist Party court's findings was actually set to target a neighboring bar. China's execution rate remains the highest in the world, by an order of magnitude.
