The death toll from a truck explosion in China's Guizhou Province has risen to eight and more than 260 people have been injured.

Two trucks carrying dynamite exploded near a vehicle testing station in Fuquan City on Tuesday morning, shattering windows in nearby homes and damaging parked cars.

Local authorities have closed six schools near the scene of the accident over fears that damaged buildings might collapse. Fifty students and seven teachers were injured in the explosion.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion.
