High-level negotiators from the Chinese regime and Taiwan have signed a nuclear power security cooperation agreement on Thursday at the cross-strait talks in the northern city of Tianjin.

It was signed at the 7th meeting between Taiwan's Straits Exchange Foundation (SEF) Chairman Chiang Pin-kung and his Chinese counterpart Chen Yunlin, President of the Association for Relations Across the Taiwan Straits (ARATS).

The pact legalizes nuclear security collaborations between Taiwan and the Chinese regime. This includes setting up an exchange program, managing nuclear emergency, monitoring radiation, and assessing nuclear hazards.

Besides, nuclear safety, the two top negotiators also discussed industrial cooperation and investment protection.

They failed to resolve some on-going differences on the terms of the investment protection pact that protects private investment and the personal safety of business individuals.

While bilateral industrial cooperation talks are progressing, the investment protection pact is scheduled to be signed at the next cross-strait talks.
