Libyan PM - Gaddafi died from headshot

Libyan Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril, citing a forensic report, said on Thursday (October 20) ousted Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi died from a bullet wound to the head received in crossfire between interim government fighters and his own supporters after he had been captured in Sirte.

"Gaddafi was taken out of a sewage pipe in a safe way and he was completely fine."
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) LIBYA'S INTERIM PRIME MINISTER MAHMOUD JIBRIL:
"When the car moved with him it ran into cross fire between the rebels and Gaddafi brigades."
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) LIBYA'S INTERIM PRIME MINISTER MAHMOUD JIBRIL:
"He was injured with a bullet to the head."
(SOUNDBITE) (Arabic) LIBYA'S INTERIM PRIME MINISTER MAHMOUD JIBRIL:
"The coroner was not able to determine whether the bullet came from the rebels or the Gaddafi forces."

"He was alive until a few minutes before he had reached the hospital.
The body was delivered to Misrata, the city west of Sirte whose siege and months of suffering at the hands of Gaddafi's artillery and snipers made it a symbol of the rebel cause.
A quick, secret burial was planned, officials said.
A formal announcement of liberation, which will set the clock ticking on a timeline to elections, would be made on Saturday, Libyan officials said.
