What's up everyone and welcome to Clevver Games I'm Andrea Rene here with the latest on Sony's upcoming hand held device, the Playstation Vita. According to Eurogamer the new portable will be compatible with Playstation 3 hardware. . The Vita will will have cross-platform compatibility built in so you can use it with Playstation 3 games! Speaking to developers, Sony Europe's R&D Manager Phil Rogers confirmed that features like the gyroscope and front and rear touch pads can be utilized when creating new titles. He was quoted as saying, "You can run software on both devices and use the network to sync the game states." So basically, your PS3 will do all the processing and Vita will handle the display. . He demonstrated cross-platform gameplay with Wipeout 2048 on the Vita with a build of Wipeout HD on the PS3. The games connected via the Playstation Network, and those the PS3 game had better frame rate, the difference seemed to be minimal. Upcoming billiards game Hustle Kings will also have support for cross-play between the Vita and PS3. . Plus there will be a feature called Continuation Play where you'll be able to start playing a game on your PS3 and then transfer the exact point of play to the Vita and take your game on the go. The only confirmed title to utilize this feature at launch will be Ruin, a Diablo-style game. But Sony is encouraging developers to incorporate this feature, and further down the road developers will be able to retroactively patch in support for the Vita and existing PS3 games! Sweet! . I was sold on the Vita after testing it at E3 so this is just gravy. What do you guys think? Is the Vita going to steal some thunder from the new Wii U? Do you think it could out-perform Nintendo's device? Let me know your thoughts in a comment below.
