Based on the fairytale “White Caroline and Black Caroline” as recorded by Edmund Dulac in 1916, a spiteful mother repeatedly tries to kill her "beautiful" daughter, and is repeatedly and secretly foiled by her beloved "ugly" daughter. The narrative focuses on the complexity of the infanticidal mother character in a contemporary context. There is a continuous tension between the mother’s desire to elicit her “ugly” daughter’s aid in killing the “beautiful” daughter and the former daughter’s desire to protect her cherished sister. Aesthetically, this work is very similar to Heather D. Freeman’s digital print collages (EpicAnt.com).
