Balloon Art: How to Make a Corsage

How to Make a Corsage - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. I am going to explain how to do a simple flower corsage. First we are going to take a 260 twister balloon. And we are going to use a hand pump and pump it up. And you are going to want to leave about five to six inches at the end. And then I am going to do what I call "burping" the balloon, where I am getting a little bit of air out. And then I am going to tie this, and the best way to tie is to go around two fingers, and pop it through, and voila. Now, while I hold the knot in my hand, and secure a petal, I am going to squeeze and soften this petal, then turn it three times. Then I am readjusting my hands, softening again, and see how I secure this, and I am twisting three times. Each time I do this I am checking to make sure that the petals are the same size. Although it is not necessary to pull out a ruler, it is necessary to keep your eyes on what you are doing. Last, to lock everything in place, I twist them all around each other, gives a nice uniform fit. And then I am going to remove the remainder of the balloon. This can be done with scissors, or professionals will just pop this off. I will show you how to do this with scissors. You hold the uninflated portion of the balloon, you trim this off, and slowly let the air out. Now you will take this piece and go ahead and wrap it in to kind of make it disappear. And you have your simple flower. Now, most people would like to make this into a flower with a nice stem, or a corsage. I will show you the corsage technique. Using another 260, I am only going to use a small piece of this. I have made a single bubble, and I am going to what we call "pinch-twist" a bubble into this, where we are folding the end of it into the one bubble and then we are turning it three times. I am going to put this inside. I am tucking this middle inside so I can fold over. So I have wrapped the balloon in, and now I need to get rid of this piece, or most of it, and we are going to use the uninflated portion of most of this balloon to make the strap for the corsage. Now, just to show off, I am going to pop this balloon without using my scissors. Pop the balloon, and now we are going to take this end and we are just simply going to tie it in by wrapping it three times. Now, here is the final flower corsage with a strap so it can be easily put on, for you to wear or to give it away.
