Afghans rock out for the first time in 30 years

Young Afghans cheered, leapt and danced in the street as live rock made a return to the war-scarred country that has not seen a music festival for three long decades.
The six-hour musical extravaganza dubbed the Sound Central festival was made up of bands from Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Australia.
One audience member, Ahmad Shah, traveled from Kandahar to take part in the festival.
SOUNDBITE: Ahmad Shah, audience member, saying (Pashto):
"I have not watched a concert for long time because there is fighting in Kandahar and the Taliban are there, so I came to Kabul to watch this concert."
Even now music shops are attacked in some cities and musicians taunted for their clothes or hairstyles.
However, there was no sign of holding back with this group.
The festival was held under tight security in a corner of picturesque Babur Gardens, a normally tranquil park.
Sound Central was the brainchild of Travis Beard, an Australian photojournalist who joined a band when he moved to Kabul and was inspired by the talent and dedication of local musicians he met.
