How to Organize Your Refrigerator - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. Hi, I am Bob Harrison, and I am a chef A Gogo. Today we are going to talk about how we organize our coolers here in a professional kitchen. You can employ the same techniques in your home kitchen. If you are scared to open your refrigerator I can help you avoid all of that scariness and make it very very easy to manage a refrigerator and what is in there. Top shelf items, these are all items that you make at home, put them in a clear container, it does two things: it helps you see inside of what is in that container and also the light that it is in the refrigerator can shine through and help cast light in the rest of the refrigerator, most of the shelves are glass bottoms so the light will shine through, this will make that a little brighter in the refrigerator where you cannot see the things that are scary. Next, keep your commercial box sauces, olives, pesto, ketchup, mayonnaise, mustard all that staff can stay on a shelf all by itself. It has a longer shelf life, and you do not need to worry about it so much. When you start getting down into your raw products, produce, meats, ready to eat, deli meats and cheeses, those are going to, you do not want to keep those in a separate area as well and then be sure to treat the raw meals very carefully. Keep those away from anything that is ready to eat, keep them on the very bottom of the refrigerator. Sometimes people will stuck that on top, that is going to lead to some sickness of some short or another.
