Lou, it's one of my favourite tunes too. And I like the text, it reminds me of the whole series of such songs in prewar Poland, in the 1920s. They usually had in their titles the most fantastic names of some new dances e.g. Polo or a Geese Trot or a sort and text went more-less the same way as "Breakaway": Let's do the Polo, or the Geese Trot or a Turkey-Step or whatever..., it's very easy like that, you have to rise up on your heels then make three sways left and right, left and right etc. etc. Only Polo had some unique line: it started with: Polo - is danced solo... and after that, it went on a usual way with all these jerks, jigs and leaps. These texts all together make a perfect picture of a dance craze of the Roaring Twenties

This was one of the first records I collected about 25 years ago and it remains one of my favorites.

Thank you for sharing this excellent version of The Breakaway of which you might be interested in finding my upload of the Hylton rendition. As usual, your visual presentation if fabulous! Isn't it unbelievable this film is presumed lost?
