Daily Water Intake - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. It is important to make sure that you are thoroughly hydrated throughout the day for many reasons. It is recommended to drink about eight cups of water a day, which is also equivalent to two liters. If you are not sure you are drinking enough water, take a look at the color of your urine. A dark, dark yellow urine means that you are dehydrated, and you need to drink much more. You want to make sure that it is a clear to yellowish-clear color, and that means you are drinking enough fluids. By the time you already feel thirsty, you are dehydrated. So it is important to not wait until you are thirsty to start drinking. One of the things you can do is carry a water bottle around with you, so that way, you are reminded to drink at different points during the day. Thirst can actually be mistaken for hunger, so it can cause you to overeat if you are thirsty. Your brain sometimes mistakes it for hunger, so you think that you are hungry. It is important to also make sure that you are staying hydrated with lower-calorie beverages such as water or low-sugar beverages, so that way, you are not getting extra calories while you are hydrating.
