These were the screaming headlines Pakistan awoke to on Monday. At the centre of the controversy is this man, Dr Zulfiqar Mirza a senior Minister and friend of President Zardari. At a hurriedly called Press Conference late Sunday, Dr Mirza resigned from his Ministerial Portfolio and party post, in protest against the unabated targeted killings in Pakistan's port city of Karachi. The killing fields he claimed were the direct product of Pakistan's powerful Interior Minister Rehman Malik and once coalition partner of the Peoples Party, the MQM, led by exiled leader Altaf Hussain.
