A case study of Image Microsystems reveals the critical role of PR in new business development for sustainability-focused companies. The Texas business, which recycles e-waste from ink jet cartridges into a substrate product that replaces aluminum in signage, reports revenues in the first half of 2011 already match those for all of 2010. The 100 percent growth is attributed to the company’s diversity initiatives, a cradle-to-cradle production process, and also to an active outreach strategy of focusing its public relations on awards, speaking engagements, and strategic partnerships.
