In the last few weeks of summer, many hurry to the beach to enjoy the hot sun and sunbathing. However, doctors warn that soaking in the sun can lead to skin cancer. Our correspondents from Ukraine will tell us more.

Anastasia is with her sister and her friend on the beach during dinnertime.

They don't hide from the sun - on the contrary, they just want to improve their tan.

However, doctors say that the hot sun damages the skin and can even cause cancer.

[Olga Bogomolets, Director, Dermatology and Cosmetology Institute]:
"To date, the statistics proved that sunburns received during childhood increases the risk of melanoma."

Melanoma is the most dangerous type of skin cancer.

This disease affects 2800 Ukrainians every year, and the statistic continues to grow.

[Olga Bogomolets, Director, Dermatology and Cosmetology Institute]:
"The main source of illness and the fact that skin cancers, came in the first place, is solar radiation, and it doesn`t matter whether it's from the real sun or a solarium."

Blue-eyed blondes, and fair-skinned people are at high risk, so they should take particular care to avoid the aggressive sun.

Physicians advise people to go sunbathing only in the morning or evening.
