U.S. Vice President Joe Biden arrived in China today at the start of a 3-day visit.
Talks are expected to focus on the economy after the U.S. had its credit rating downgraded and raised its debt ceiling.
Chinese state-run media has been critical over issues related to U.S. debt. The Chinese regime is the United States' biggest creditor, holding over one trillion dollars of U.S. Treasury securities.
Arms sales to Taiwan may also be a topic for discussion. The U.S. just refused to sell Taiwan a new fleet of F-16 C/D fighter aircraft, but did grant the self ruled island an upgrade for its existing fleet of F-16s. The Chinese regime considers Taiwan a breakaway province of China and military support for the island is a sensitive issue.
After leaving China, Biden will head to Japan and Mongolia.
