Personally I think it is unfair to compare the two. Coaching and training each meet different needs with distinctively different methodologies.
Generally speaking training is determined by the needs of the business and is often imposed on staff. Its content is therefore quite general as is the target group.
Coaching on the other hand has more to do with individual needs and can be volunteered for or encouraged. This makes coaching unique in its content and approach, customized for each person or team being coached.
