Researching Prior to Job Interview - Interview Tips - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. It is very important that you do your research before you go on your job interview. So, here are some creative things that you can do to research the employer that you are going to be interviewing with that maybe you have never thought of. Use LinkedIn. LinkedIn can be a great place to find people who have worked in that company recently. Go to the advance search tab of LinkedIn, put in the name of the company, and where it says, there is a little drop down underneath that it says past or present. Go ahead and select past. See if you can find somebody in your network who knows somebody who has recently left that company and then go do an informational interview with those people if you can find them. Also, some other things to consider doing, is to check out glassdoor.com, it is a great site that will give you information about what it is like inside that company. Research the website thoroughly, and also know who the employer's competitors are and research their websites as well. Look at trade magazines or general industry at research, and consider going to a library and grabbing the most friendly looking reference librarian and you can find and ask that person to help you conduct more research. A lot of times libraries have subscriptions to services like Hoovers that will allow you to access information that you could not find on your own.
