Meat Diet Vs. Vegetarian Diet - as part of the expert series by GeoBeats. The question of whether or not to eat meat or eat a vegetarian diet is a really controversial topic when it comes to nutrition. There are very passionate people on both sides of the debate. In general, it really depends on your body. If you digest meat well, and there are people who digest the proteins and amino acids in animal protein better than they do vegetarian protein, then they are going to want to include a little bit of animal protein in their diet. However, in general, it is good to note that most Americans eat way too much animal protein. We actually do not need animal protein in every single meal. So, my general rule is to, say, eat a varied diet. Eat a lot of vegetables, a lot of fruits, a lot of whole grains, good quality fats and proteins. And if you are eating a vegetarian protein, then beans and those types of proteins are gonna be great additions. But if you are eating animal protein, you want to make sure that it is in small amounts and you eat it with lots of fresh vegetables to help it digest in the body.
