And so wedging involves, just pressing the clay against the table. I like to put one foot behind the other so I can lean into it, and then it is not so much about strength as it is about weight and momentum. This is also a good time to think about what you will be making and to prepare your mind for the pots that you want to form. I tell my students at least sixty turns on the table. Once the wet clay is well wedged you are ready for forming pots on the potters wheel.
