Beating of the Retreat-part-3. The most spectacular and moving military ceremony to be held in India, this event brings together India’s finest military bands playing global and Indian military music, with the fantastic backdrop of the South and North Blocks, and the presidential estate of Rashtrapati Bhawan. Trumpeters and buglers perch atop the turrets and domes of the building, and play out to the gathered crowd, as the sun sets behind, and soon after the bell is rung to accentuate ‘Abide with Me’. Witness some of the best coordinated massed drumming of military drums of all sizes. Camels, horses, swords deftly flung into the air and caught once again, and massed bands from all the defence forces add drama to this fantastic ceremony.
The ceremony ends with the spectacular lighting up after sunset of all the buildings of the central verge including South and North Blocks, the Parliament house and Rashtrapati Bhawan.
Filmed entirely in HDCAM by WFIL. Would make a perfect standalone programme.
