Episode 2/25 : Understanding the Burgundy Cote de Nuits with Erwan Faiveley

  • il y a 13 ans
Here, we do not talk about Pinot Noir, but rather the parcels and climates of Burgundy. We will try to demystify this a little mosaic of plots and appellations with the help of Erwan Faiveley, who represents the seventh generation at the head of Domaine Faiveley, a great wine estate that has been here in Nuits Saint Georges since 1825.

We figure that 185 vintages of experience should be enough to help us understand the characteristics of the prestigious appellations of Côte de Nuits.

Topics covered in this episode:

- The plots of Burgundy: the little game of the Monks.
- Difference between a Burgundy Pinot Noir and a New World Pinot Noir (South African PN)
- The difference between a Grand Cru, Premier Cru and a Village designated wine
- Technique: maceration in oak barrels.
- The auction of the Hospices de Beaune
- Monopoles in Burgundy
