Germany is one of the fastest-aging countries in the world. At the same time, the elderly are gaining more and more power: as a growing voter bloc, as consumers, and as decision makers. Many young people are turning against what they call a “pensioners’ democracy”. Demographer Dr. Herwig Birg explains the generational conflict in an aging Germany.
