Meredith Hawkins, M.D., professor of medicine (endocrinology) and director of the Global Diabetes Initiative at Einstein, discusses a study published in The Lancet which reports that there are now nearly 350 million adults worldwide with diabetes. Previous estimates had predicted the number would be 285 million. Dr. Hawkins discussed the study and the implications for the developed and developing world.
