In Wenzhou, China, pottery enthusiasts unveiled a new Ouyao porcelain kiln on Wednesday. It's to revive a tradition that dates back more than a millenia.

On Wednesday morning, the opening ceremony for a new Ouyao porcelain kiln was held in Wenzhou City of China's Zhejiang Province. It's restoring an ancient method of creating porcelain that dates back to the third century.

Ouyan porcelain kilns were once used to create pottery, but eventually became forgotten with the passage of time. However, Ouyao kiln enthusiasts wish to restore this old tradition.

[Chen Jingwei, Ouyao Kiln Porcelain Research Institute]:
"This is the first step of our mission. It should have been done a thousand years ago. We will build more kilns in the future. By doing this, we want to spread our Ouyao kiln porcelain culture to the world."

After years of research, the Ouyao Kiln Porcelain Research Institute finally uncovered the methods that were used back in the day. While Ouyao kilns were primarily used to make pottery back then, they are now looking into ways to innovatively create new products.

The first batch of 308 porcelain pieces was put into the new kiln on Wednesday and will be finished Friday morning.
