Watch the whole 19-minute interview at http://www.goldmoney.com/pierre-jovanovic. Pierre Jovanovic (jovanovic.com) talks to the GoldMoney Foundation about de Gaulle asking for France’s gold back from the US, forcing Nixon’s hand in ending the dollar’s gold convertibility. He explains that US government and politicians were outraged at France for calling their monetary bluff and pointing out that the Emperor was naked. He talks about Pompidou’s law on sovereign debt and its disastrous consequences. In contrast, De Gaulle wished, advised by Jacques Rueff to return to the gold standard because gold is a neutral judge of the exchange of wealth.
