STORY: US NEW AF-PAK SPECIAL ENVOY DATELINE: Dec. 15, 2010 LENGTH: 0:00:59 LOCATION: Washington VO The United States has named Frank Ruggiero as the acting special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan. U.S. State Department spokesman Philip Crowley said on Tuesday that Ruggiero was appointed to replace his late boss Richard Holbrooke, who died on Monday. He said the deputy will continue as the special representative for Afghanistan and Pakistan and carry on the structure that Holbrooke created. Ruggiero joined Secretary of State Hillary Clinton at a White House meeting to finish the review process on U.S. Afghan and Pakistan policies. The State Department described Ruggiero as a "career civil servant".
