In many cases faulty building work in China has led to deadly consequences. Friday, officials said a total of 15,600 corruption cases were uncovered in government-funded engineering projects last year. The details of more than 5,100 people involved in the cases have been handed over to judicial authorities. The government then ordered nationwide inspections to go through all government-sponsored construction projects with an investment of more than 740,000 U.S. dollars. It found about 210,000 problems - ranging from poor quality of construction projects to bribery.
