(0628 CR M08) BLACKLIST JOURNALIST NOT ALLOWED DATELINE: June 28, 2011 LENGTH: 00:01:08 VO China's press watchdog said on Monday that no organizations or individuals are allowed to block reporters from doing their jobs or blacklist them. The General Administration of Press and Publication, or GAPP made the statement in response to the public discussions stirred by an officer' s comments. About two weeks ago, a health ministry media officer said at a conference that the ministry will blacklist journalists who publish phony food-scare stories. The statement also responded to the criticism from the International Federation of Journalists. An official with the GAPP said reporters' lawful practices are protected by law. And government at all levels and its functionaries should facilitate the work of reporters. As to potentially flawed or erroneous reports, the GAPP called on the relevant government agencies to timely publicize correct information and not to be too hard on reporters Powered by www.newslook.com Producer : Xinhua News Agency
