Over 1000 exhibitors, including record-size contingents from car giants US and Germany, revved up the atmosphere at the biggest automotive trade fair in the Middle East last week. Our correspondents bring you the action from the Automechanika exhibition in Dubai.

The 9th edition of Automechanika Middle East was the place to be for car lovers in Dubai last week.

A lot of wheeling and dealing goes on here at what is the largest international automotive aftermarket trade fair in the wider Middle East.

Everything aftermarket for the car can be found here, from flashy tuning kits to spare parts and sophisticated rust proofing solutions.

This vendor says that despite a brief, bumpy spell during the global financial crisis, the auto parts market has been buoyant in the Middle East.

[Eng. Eyad Adnan Sadek, Executive Manager, Masader Mlti]:
"It is a high potential market, it is a promising market and we are doing our operations the right way so we can say with pride that we pass away from this crisis."

Over 1000 exhibitors from 52 countries made sure there was plenty of action to keep things in high gear.

And Automechanika saw plenty of business deals being made -- from supply contracts for spare parts and accessories to gadgets like anti-bacterial windscreen film.

[Eng. Eyad Adnan Sadek, Executive Manager, Masader Mlti]:
"In the GCC is the lowest area in the world affected by the crisis, at the same time there are a lot of cars, there's a lot of sand so this is the best area to do this business."

This year's edition, almost 20 percent bigger than last year's, saw the largest ever representation from two automotive giants, the US and Germany.
