Police and customs officials in India have seized weapons on a freight train travelling from Pakistan. It is one of several similar incidents over the past several months.

On Thursday an assortment of arms were discovered on a freight train traveling from Pakistan to India.

Acting on a tip off, intelligence officials from police and customs agencies seized the weapons as the train pulled in at the Attari Railway Station in India's northern state of Punjab.

[Ranjit Singh, Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise]:
"Today when we searched a goods train coming from Pakistan, in wagon number 73966 we found two pistols, one of which was made in the USA. These are .30 calibre pistols."

Officials say that the seizure demonstrates the continuing vigilance of concerned officials and allied personnel.

[S. M. Akhtar, Assistant Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise]:
"This was a very important seizure of arms, in the past we have seized drugs, narcotics, and fake currency. This shows are we are vigilant enough and doing our best. We will continue to be vigilant in the future, as well."

Over the past couple of months, the Customs and Excise department has made several similar captures, with weapons originating in Pakistan.
