An Australian man has fallen off a seven story balcony and died while "planking" in Brisbane on Sunday.

20-year-old Acton Beale was trying to lie face down on the railing of a balcony when he fell.

The new craze of "planking" involves someone lying down on their stomach in different places and posting photos of it on the Internet.

Prime Minister Gillard has warned of the dangers of the new craze.

    [Julia Gillard, Australian Prime Minister]:
"There is a difference between a harmless bit of fun done somewhere that's really safe and taking a risk with your life."

In just one day, Planking Australia's Facebook page has seen 400 people joining up every hour.
