STORY: IRAN SHIPS ENTER SUEZ
DATELINE: Feb. 22, 2011
LENGTH: 0:00:36
LOCATION: Cairo

VO

Egypt's Suez Canal authority says two Iranian naval vessels entered the canal on Tuesday.

Egypt has given a green light to the Iranian warships to use the key water way, but the trip has been delayed. No reasons have been revealed.

Iran says the two vessels are heading for Syria on a training mission.

It'll be a first for Iranian naval ships to sail through Suez since Iran's 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Israel, considering Iran an enemy, has voiced concerns over the transit plan, saying it's a "provocation".
