Dalai Lama Heads 3-Day Peace Summit in New Jersey

The Dalai Lama, along with other Nobel Peace Laureates and thought leaders such as Deepak Chopra headed a 3-day summit on peace education over the weekend in NJ. The purpose of the summit was to examine how nations, families and individuals can build foundations for peace.

From May 13th to the 15th, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center was the site of a major 3 day summit on peacemaking organized by Tibet House US and the Drew A Katz Foundation…with the Mayor of Newark New Jersey hosting the conference.
Heading a star studded panelist of peace makers was The Holiness Dalai lama who talked about the importance of having a calm heart and mind in order to address peace related problems.

[His Holiness the XIV Dalai Lama]:
”…too much emotion, attachment, or anger, fear….with that mental state you can’t investigate objectively…so your conclusion through that way…wrong conclusion…so I think you can consider me as a small Buddhist psychologist…todayMany of the speakers talked about the importance of practicing meditation as the key to inner peace which in turn can effect your environment.

“It is very important for us to understand that in the absence of personal transformation there is no social transformation…that peace can only be created by those who are peaceful!”

Panelist and best selling author Deepak Chopra, also had this to say about how meditation can even affect your genes….
