Nigeria will elect its highly powerful state governors on Tuesay April 26, although the votes in two riot-hit northern states have been postponed by two days. Residents of the teeming commercial capital, Lagos, face massive problems on a daily basis - from a lack of power and healthcare to gridlocked traffic caused by inadequate infrastructure. However, many citizens have seen small but significant signs of improvement in the sprawling metropolis and the state governor is being hailed as a rare example of effective leadership in a country plagued by corruption and misrule.
