In New Delhi on Thursday, India's main opposition party, the BJP, criticized the country's Railway Minister over a rail safety incident.

An Indian national volleyball and basketball player, Arunima Sinha, was thrown out from a moving train and subsequently lost her leg.

The BJP spokesperson questions Railway Minister Mamata Banerjee's competency in managing railway affairs.

[Nirmala Sitharaman, Spokesperson, BJP]:
"This incident poses a question on Mamata Banerjee's railway administration capabilities. The efficiency with which, the railways are functioning, the Railway Protection Force is functioning and the safety of women passengers are all coming to the fore again."

She also criticized northern Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati since the incident took place in the state, and authorities took six hours to reach the accident site.
