Taking his queue from today's Gospel where Our Lady stands at the foot of the Cross, witnessing the sacrifice of her Son, Fr. Bonaventure preaches on the role that Mary's sufferings have in the Redemption. He starts with the prophecy of Simeon where she is told that her heart will be pierced by a sword that the thoughts of nations will be revealed and then proceeds through all seven of her sorrows: at the prophecy of Simeon at the flight into Egypt having lost the Holy Child at Jerusalem meeting Jesus on his way to Calvary standing at the foot of the Cross Jesus being taken from the Cross at the burial of Christ.
