The classical Chinese dance and music company Shen Yun Performing Arts has just finished the London leg of its European tour. Our correspondent in London caught up with one writer at the matinee performance on Saturday.

On Saturday April 9th, Shen Yun Performing Arts deliver a matinee show at the London Coliseum.

In the audience is Layla Alexander-Garrett, a writer and producer who has worked with renowned Russian film director Andrei Tarkovsky.

[Layla Alexander-Garrett, Writer/Producer]:
"I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the performers were stunning and very, very exciting. So on this beautiful sunny day, I think it's an even more stunning performance. It was a real pleasure to see it."

She enjoyed the Shen Yun orchestra's mix of traditional Chinese and classical Western instruments.

[Layla Alexander-Garrett, Writer/Producer]
"I liked the music, and I particularly looked at the instruments, I'm very sad that I don't know the names of that, but it's really, really beautiful, traditional Chinese elements that were introduced to the main, more classical (orchestra). I thought the soprano was beautiful and of course the stunning lady who is introducing each show, it's wonderful, it's like an introduction to the legend of China."

Layla Alexander-Garrett is a regular thearter goer, but says seeing a show like Shen Yun is a rare experience.

[Layla Alexander-Garrett, Writer/Producer]:
"It's very sad that not very often you see very traditional --or maybe I missed it, because I try to see every performance, every new production. But somehow, I missed it. So I thought it was lovely."

Shen Yun will play its final show in London on Sunday April 10th, before moving on to the Hague in the Netherlands on April 12th.
