The prime ministers of India and Pakistan met each other at the Cricket World Cup in India on Thursday. They talked about working toward a lasting peace between the two nations. Relations have been hard hit since the 2008 Mumbai attack that left 166 people dead. India has long blamed Pakistan for harboring the militant groups responsible.

On Wednesday, the prime ministers of India and Pakistan pledged to continue peace talks between the two nations.

The two leaders addressed the media after watching the semi-final Cricket World Cup match between their two countries in India's northern state of Punjab. India won the semi-final, setting up an all-Asian final against Sri Lanka.

[Yousuf Raza Gilani, Pakistani Prime Minister]:
"I think that winning and losing have their importance but today it is cricket which has won, the victory is of both the countries and on this basis we have gathered here today. Both the countries have talked on various issues on the sidelines and it is our determination that we will resolve all the issues."

He added that the two countries should work together to combat common challenges and issues.

[Yousuf Raza Gilani, Pakistani Prime Minister]:
"We want positive messages to be sent out from the both the nations. Our common enemies are poverty, hunger, disease, unemployment, lack of development and infrastructure; we have to pay attention to them. If god allows then the motive of Mr. Prime Minister, which he had specified earlier and today as well is that both us intend to resolve these issues and both countries should prosper and develop."

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh supported Gilani's views… adding that all efforts would be made by the two leaders to work together to overcome differences.
