STORY: EARTH HOUR DATELINE: March 26, 2011 LENGTH: 0:07:14 LOCATION: Singapore VO Lights will go out around the world on Saturday with hundreds of millions of people set to take part in the "Earth Hour" climate change campaign. The yearly event encourages people in cities around the world to switch off their lights for one hour to encourage lower energy consumption. Earth Hour co-founder Andy Ridley said Earth Hour this year will focus on connecting people online, so they can inspire each other to go beyond the hour and make commitments to help protect the environment. About 134 countries or regions are on board for this year's event and many groups also want to use the hour to pay tribute to Japan, which this month suffered a 9-magnitude quake and tsunami. The event will take place from 8:30 p.m local time around the world. Powered by Producer : Xinhua News Agency
