At least 26 passengers from Japan were found with mild radiation contamination when being scanned at Taiwan's Taoyuan Airport on Thursday.
After nuclear authorities at the airport removed radioactive materials, further radiation was not found on the passengers.
As of Thursday at noon, more than 4,500 people passed through a voluntary radiation-screening gate. The gate makes a sound when detecting one millisieverts per hour, the unit used to measure radiation.
Taiwan imposed radiation screening for inbound passengers from Japan on Tuesday, as fears mounted over radiation leaks from Japan's quake-crippled nuclear power plant.
The country is closely monitoring radiation levels at 30 stations on the island, which are providing data every five minutes.
