Paris, France is home to a beautiful structure known affectionately as La Madeleine (Mah-dell-ine [like pine]).

This Roman Catholic Church dedicated to Mary Magdalene, was consecrated in the year 1842; almost a century after its initial designs had been laid out.

Napoleon Bonaparte ordered the structure seen today to be erected as a monument to the glory of his French Army.

Built in Neo-classical design, it features gorgeous reliefs, wide bay arches and lovely frescoes.

The church has 52, 20 meter high, Corinthian columns that extend all around the building.

Today, apart from holding masses, La Madeleine (Mah-dell-ine [like pine]) is known for hosting the city's most elegant and popular weddings.
