Shen Yun has drawn to the end of its run in Australia for 2011, finishing up in the country's capital: Canberra. Our correspondent files this report.

Alistair Coe MLA, Liberal Member for Belconnen, Nicholls and Hall, saw Shen Yun Performing Arts at Canberra Theater on Tuesday evening.

[Alistair Coe MLA, Liberal Member for Belconnen, Nicholls and Hall]:
"There are so many wonderful aspects to the show. But I think having a live orchestra makes it very special. The acoustics of the theater really do complement the fact there is a live orchestra so it really does add dimension to the show which we don't always see here in Canberra."

He enjoyed learning about Chinese culture.

[Alistair Coe MLA, Liberal Member for Belconnen, Nicholls and Hall]:
"I think the piece 'Our Story,' I think, is very moving, I think it does depict the real struggle which is out there but also the hope and optimism that also exists. And I also think the terracotta warriors scene was fantastic. It's such an iconic part of Chinese culture and it's wonderful that it can be depicted in dance."

Canberra is the last stop on the Australian leg of Shen Yun's tour.

[Alistair Coe MLA, Liberal Member for Belconnen, Nicholls and Hall]:
"It's often hard to see real Chinese culture so to be able to come here to the theater in Canberra and to witness what is a culture of 5,000 years, to be performed over a couple of hours really is a fantastic opportunity and I encourage as many Australians as possible to go out and see the show."

Shen Yun travels to two cities this week. Atlanta, Georgia in the U.S. where it's in the middle of a three show run; and has its final show in Clermont-Ferrand, France Wednesday evening. More info at http://www.shenyunperformingarts.org/
