Kachin Independent Army Those Kachin Independent Army (KIA), also Kachin Independence Army mentioned, is the armed arm of the Kachin Independence organization (KIO), a political organization in Myanmar (the former Burma), itself for the rights of the myanmarischen group of peoples that Kachin begins. The KIO adheres at present to an armistice with the military regime Myanmars, that State Peace and development Council (SPDC). The strength of the KIO becomes estimated on 5000 men. The KIO is organized in 4 brigades. The headquarters of the KIO is in Laiza in Kachin state
