Lady Gaga has topped the download charts in 21 countries simultaneously, becoming the world's first download number one.

The international pop star has delighted fans with new single Born This Way.

The song reached number one in all of the countries, including Britain, Germany and France, within hours of being released.

Gaga performed the single at the Grammys and spent three hours 'getting into character' inside a gigantic frosted egg before appearing on stage.

In order to reach the ceremony, a troupe of models carried the singer down the Grammys red carpet with the egg suspended on sticks.
