Berlusconi issues video message to supporters
  • 13 years ago

Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi has issued a third video message to his supporters in as many weeks, accusing his opponents of acting in a 'shameful manner'.

The video comes following the announcement that the Berlusconi's trial for tax fraud and false accounting will resume on February 28, after it was ruled he could not invoke automatic immunity.

Recently, the Italian media published excerpts of police interrogations of women and phone wiretaps describing wild parties hosted by Berlusconi.

Prosecutors are also alleging that the Italian Prime Minister paid for sex with prostitutes, including a teenager whose stage name as a club dancer is "Ruby the Heart Stealer."

He has repeatedly denied these charges and says he has never paid for sex.

Berlusconi, who has bounced back to power various times in the past, is facing mounting pressure to resign over the recent scandals and lawsuits.
