It's always a worry when the US remake a UK show (and vice-versa), but with creator Paul Abbott's involvement, the Showtime take on Channel 4's Shameless is one of the notable exceptions. The first 3 eps have all followed the UK show very closely. Whether this continues is to be seen, but at least they've made a faithful start to develop from.
