A-lister George Clooney has been battling malaria after contracting the disease on a political trip to Sudan.

The actor revealed the news on Piers Morgan's new CNN show and admitted that he is still taking medication but has largely recovered.

Piers immediately tweeted the news to his 200,000 Twitter followers.

Later he added: "Clooney malaria update: now have 24,563 offers to nurse him. But his rep says medication's worked and he's OK. Sorry, ladies."

The Oceans Eleven actor is a frequent visitor to Sudan and has contracted malaria once before.

An official statement from his representatives said: "This illustrates how with proper medication, the most lethal condition in Africa, can be reduced to a bad ten days instead of a death sentence."
