A minor earthquake hits New Delhi and adjoining areas on Wednesday. Locals were awakened by the tremors and many fled to the street, but there are no reports of casualties or damage.
Besides the capital, the tremor was also felt in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.
One local resident says he got out of his building and took shelter in his car.
[Ram Kapoor, Local Resident]:
"We felt the tremor around 2 a.m. We all came downstairs because as we all know earthquakes can be devastating. Since it's cold outside, I sat in my car with my family."
Another local says some noise woke him up.
[Mukesh, Local Resident]:
"We came out of our home and saw many others standing. When we asked they told us a tremor has hit."
Preliminary reports suggest the epicenter of the earthquake was in Southwest Pakistan.
